Kessel Finds the Net, But Still Missing on the Scoresheet

Kessel found the net against the Panthers, but not like he's supposed to
Despite several sightings in the state of Florida these past few days, Phil Kessel is still missing. Various reports had Kessel scalping tickets at St. Pete Times Forum Tuesday night, and playing beach volleyball with Tyler Bozak in Sunrise well into the afternoon on Wednesday.
Kessel has not scored, or recorded a point, in 7 games now. In that same stretch, the Leafs have only netted 9 goals, 4 of which came in a 5-4 shootout loss to Washington. Players aren't happy, coaches aren't happy, and most of all, the fans aren't happy (gotta love Leaf fans in Florida tossing jerseys on the ice!).

  1. There is no doubt that Kessel is streaky. So, the next questions is: does he score clutch goals? I can only think of a handful of times where he has scored in key situations. Dirtydangle? How clutch is Phil Kessel?

  2. You're right, he has only scored in key situations a few times. He's had a couple goals which have made games closer, but his game winners usually come in games decided by 3 or more goals. Wouldn't someone who is clutch really try and get the Leafs out of this slump?
