In Tuesday's Toronto Star, there was an article about Tyler Bozak and his fear of
Bozak says the fear doesn’t affect his game, because the team travels the night before it plays and he’s able to calm down.
From the Star:
He can’t quite put his finger on how or why he fears it.I love that his teammates take shots at him and try and get him going. I can remember doing that with my brother on his first flight and telling him that you have to lean with the plane when it turns or we could do a tailspin and crash, just like Goose in Top Gun.
“I get sweaty,” said Bozak. “In my mind I still don’t see how it all works. All that weight floating through the air. Just doesn’t sound right.”
His teammates rib him about it, saying things like “that doesn’t sound right” as the plane takes off, just to get a reaction from him.
I don't really think anyone likes to fly (although it looks like Sidney Crosby does). It takes forever to even get on a plane at the airport these days and being in a tight area with a lot of people can't be fun. I agree with Bozak though, all that weight flying around up there just doesn't seem right. Part of being a professional athlete is flying around to games, I guess Bozak could always take the bus with Brian Burke though.
This week the Leafs are jetting around the West Coast. Let's hope for some wins and no turbulence.
