Flashback Friday

Every Friday we will be adding one of our favorite hockey videos from over the years. Some might be painful, some might be just plain dirty, but they all have a story behind them that make them downright awesome and great to watch over and over again.
Owen Nolan had a true "All Star" moment calling his shot
With the All Star Game this weekend, it's only fitting we remember Owen Nolan's goal from the 1997 NHL All Star Game. Playing in front of the home crowd in San Jose, Nolan got a breakaway with just over 2 minutes left in the 3rd period. Coming in on arguably the best goaltender in the league that year, Nolan pointed to the top corner of the net, and fired the puck over Dominik Hasek's shoulder. This goal capped a hat trick for Nolan, who set a record by scoring two goals eight seconds apart earlier in the game. Nolan's in-your-face-goal where he calls his shot is one of our favourite All Star Game moments.

Not going to lie, the puck tracking looked cool on that first goal, but wow what a dumb idea. What player do you think will have the best performance this year? Eric Staal in front of the home crowd? Or will Phil Kessel shine with a NHL-calibre centreman?

  3. It would of been nice if there were 6+ extra guys you could pick from and a couple of extra goalies. It would of been nice seeing players get cut, especially Kessel.

  5. Because of this site, I now hate Fridays. Fantasy Friday or Flashback Friday, which is it? Maybe your blog wouldn't suck so bad if it had some consistency.
