Every Friday we will be adding one of our favourite hockey videos from over the years. Some might be painful, some might be just plain dirty, but they all have a story behind them that make them downright awesome and great to watch over and over again.

Phil Kessel made headlines earlier this week for his comments made on the disconnect he and coach Ron Wilson have. When the shy, introverted Kessel said "maybe it's just not working out here" - alarm bells went off. Had Kessel not been so awkward, he might have avoided the criticism that came with his comments when people thought he wanted out of Toronto. Taken out of context, it looks bad. What he meant was the line he was on was not working out - it just didn't come out that way.
Even Tyler Bozak laughs when Kessel gets interviewed because of his awkwardness, but at least Kessel isn't afraid to fly. The attention Kessel receives is unwanted, such as being picked last in the All Star Draft (having James Duthie call him down after he sits down is hard to watch) and having Alex Ovechkin take a picture of him on national television. However one of my favourite Phil Kessel awkward moments is from the 2007 NHL Road Trip commercial.

Your "wanted" handouts are unoriginal and distasteful. Seriously, I've seen this so many times and every time it was funny. Yours, however, is garbage.

ReplyDeleteI thought they were kind of funny. Kessel is not scoring goals, I guess fans should let him off easy? Bozak has escaped criticism as well because Kessel has taken all of the heat. These Leaf forwards need to step it up. Can't have all of the offence coming from MacArthur - Grabovski - Kulemin

ReplyDeleteThose posters are simply amazing and no matter how many times it is done it will always be funny. Case and point there will always be someone on the leafs to make a poster about due to their lack of effort or being the blunt of a stupid trade that sees the leafs lose and another team prosper. Go Flyers
