Every Friday we will be adding one of our favourite hockey videos from over the years. Some might be painful, some might be just plain dirty, but they all have a story behind them that make them downright awesome and great to watch over and over again.
With Peter Forsberg officially hanging up his skates after a brief 35 minute comeback this season, we remember Foppa for the great player he was. His powerful presence in the corners, his playmaking ability, and his willingness to play the game he loves. We're sure you will have a good retirement Peter. Here are some highlights from Forsberg's career:
- Calder Memorial Trophy in 1995
- 116 points in 1995-1996 - his first full NHL season
- 106 points in 2002-2003 after taking a year off to recover his health
- Art Ross and Hart Trophy in the 2002-2003 season
- 7 goals, 24 assists for 31 points in 7 games at the 1993 World Juniors
- 7 All-Star game appearances
- Ranked 4th in all-time-assists-per-game behind Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Bobby Orr with 0.901
- Forsberg is part of the Triple Gold Club (Olympic Gold, World Championship Gold, and the Stanley Cup) - he has enough medals and Cups to do this twice
- Peter Forsberg is a career +238, and a +54 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs
- If you type in Peter Forsberg on Google Images, "Peter Forsberg Eyes" will come up.
- Forsberg's last game is not against Tomas Vokoun in Nashville, but Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators,
- Forsberg scored the shootout-winning goal at the 1994 Olympics doing what many commentators call "The Paralyzer". We simply call it the Forsberg.
Is Peter Forsberg Hockey Hall Of Fame worthy? If so, when is he inducted?
