|Doan has been trying to find his way back to Winnipeg for years|
For those frequent viewers of the Outdoor Life Network, you may have seen a few advertisements for the upcoming season of Mantracker on April 17th. Now OLN is pretty sweet, but we won't plug their network unless it's hockey related, so here's the kicker - Phoenix Coyotes captain, Shane Doan, will be the prey on Mantracker. For those who don't know the show, there's a guy named Terry Grant that they call Mantracker, who kind of looks like a bearded Joel Quenneville in a cowboy hat. Mantracker rides a horse through whatever terrain they're tracking in and chases two prey as they attempt to go from Point A to Point B.
This is just one of the many times Outdoor Life Network has featured NHL players on their shows. Road Hockey Rumble has featured Jordin Tootoo, Eric Staal, Eric Belanger and Wade Redden play in street hockey games in their hometowns. Rumour has it the Connecticut Whale tried to bury Redden's contract in this made up ball hockey league. In addition, Kyle Wellwood hosts the show Man v. Food and we hear Zdeno Chara is going to be featured on Monsterquest. As much as we would love Doan to be partnered with teammate Paul Bissonnette for tweeting purposes, he will be doing it with his brother, Brook. The episode will air Sunday, April 17th at 9:00PM ET.
In a press release, Doan says their mission was to trek 4,000 feet through the deep brush surrounding Gold Bridge, British Columbia, to a 6,000 foot peak. We like this map better:
This isn't Mantracker's first clash with the NHL. He spent some time with Edmonton Oilers tough guy Steve MacIntyre throwing some lasso on ice. Going to go out on a limb and say the Oilers practice like Dwayne Robertson of Mighty Ducks D2 fame and MacIntyre chases the young Oilers around with a rope.
