What Other 18-Year-Old's Are Doing With Their Lives

"Yeah, I can vote."
With the news of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Gabriel Landeskog, Sean Couturier and Adam Larsson staying with their NHL clubs for the year, many people looked at the 18-year-old's and reflected on their own lives. I know I feel like a failure every time one of these kids cracks the line-up or they become my heroes during the IIHF World Juniors, but what about their peers? I can remember being that age and thinking, Sidney Crosby just put up 100+ points in the NHL and I'm shoulder-tapping guys in The Beer Store parking lot to buy me beer so I can drink in a basement.

So what are other 18-year-old's doing with their lives right now? We've got some ideas:
  • Waiting in line for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to come out (with Tyler Bozak)
  • Buying a fake ID off a shady character downtown
  • Watching a really bad romantic comedy with their girlfriend thinking it will get them to 3rd base
  • Signing up for co-ed intramurals at university
  • They have shit part-time jobs, but make enough money to drink cheap beer and eat fast food every day of the week
  • Spending more time on Facebook and Twitter than they do with actual people
  • They have a friend that is a little weird, but has a car so he's one of their closest friends
  • Getting high and going to see Paranormal Activity 3
  • They don't do dishes at home, but they know how to flip cups
  • Being forced into dressing up as Edward from Twilight for Halloween for a couples costume idea, thinking it will get them laid.

  2. It's crazy to think about what you were doing when you were 18. These guys are playing in front of 20,000 people and also having to deal with the media and fans.

  3. I took the Nuge with one of my last picks in my fantasy pool and he has been a steal. Keep it up kid.

  4. Nugent-Hopkins looks like a computer software guy but boy can he play. Love watching the Oilers games this year.
