NHLers Non-NHL Highlights Of The Week

It's been a rollercoaster week for hockey fans as we come down from the optimistic high that was the NHL's 50/50 proposal. While the NHLPA gave three counter proposals later in the week like a drunk fantasy GM, all three were dismissed by the NHL and the Lockout continues. CBA talk dominated headlines throughout the week, but there were some hockey highlights of the non-NHL variety to be seen. Here are some of our favourite NHLers Non-NHL Hockey Highlights of the Week to cheer you up.

Rick Nash has 6 goals in 6 games with HC Davos, here's him dangling the shit out of a defenceman for one of them:

Danny Briere and Claude Giroux are off too a great start in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga with a combined 4 goals and 9 assists in just two games. Here's Briere scoring a hat trick in his 2nd game - the feed from Giroux on the 2nd goal is just nasty:

Rick DiPietro made his debut with SC Riessersee in the German ESBG and didn't get hurt! He made some big saves in a losing effort including this goal line save:

Craig Smith is scoring some goals with KalPa in the SM-liiga, here's him scoring a shootout winner this week against Karpat:

Matt Duchene had an impressive debut for Frolunda in the Swedish Elitserien with two apples. Here's a nifty spin-o-rama pass to Fabian Brunnstrom for a goal:

Here's Antti Niemi stopping Erik Karlsson in the SM-liiga to win a shootout for the Pelicans:

Brayden Schenn is playing for the Adirondack Phantoms in the AHL during the lockout and scored this shorthanded beauty in their opening game:
