Betting On An End To Our Suffering

No NHL hockey has taken its toll on fans, but the NHL Lockout has also hurt what we like to call the Hockey Vices: drinking and gambling. While we know bars are suffering with no hockey games on their TVs and beer companies are threatening to sue the NHL for financial compensation, you can't forget about the gambling industry. The NHL is their biggest hockey draw and if there's no games to bet on, the industry definitely takes a hit, but they've been coming up with some pretty fun odds for you to place bets on throughout the NHL Lockout.

Let's see what kind of coin you could have made at the beginning of the NHL Lockout:

When will the NHL Lockout end?

Before December 15th 2012                     -115

On or After December 15th 2012                -115

Not the greatest odds, but if the pessimist in you went for after December 15th then you had some extra Christmas money to spend.

Will the NHL cancel any regular season games in the 2012-13 season?

Yes 1/10

No 6/1

Had you bet enough money that 1/10 would have been a nice payday as we're now at 525 NHL regular season games cancelled.

Will the NHL cancel the 2012-13 Winter Classic?

Yes 1/1

No 4/7

The cancellation of the Winter Classic sucked. The NHL Lockout really hit fans when it was announced, but those that took the evens bet probably agreed with us that the cancellation of the WC was for the best.

What % of hockey-related revenue will the players receive in year 1 of the new NHL CBA?

Over/Under 50.5%

We love a good Over/Under bet and it looks like this one will be a close one when a deal is reached.

Will the entire 2012-2013 NHL Season be cancelled because of a lockout? (October 16th)

Yes 2/1

No 1/3

Decent odds for a pessimist at 2/1. Gary Bettman should have just put all the owners money on this prop to solve their greed problem.

And your odds almost two months into the lockout...

Will the NHL cancel the 2012-2013 season? (November 6th)

Yes -200 (1-2)
No +150 (3-2)

The odds for a cancelled season got worse as the Lockout grows stronger and optimism for an NHL season is crushed.

When will the NHL lockout end? (December 21)

Before Jan. 15, 2013: 4-7

On or after Jan. 15, 2013: 1-1

The most recent odds we found are basically the same as "Will the NHL Cancel the 2012-13 Season?" It's getting down to the wire for the NHL Lockout to end and for an NHL season to be saved, so get your bets in!

  1. If there isn't a hockey season I won't be buying any NHL merchandise ever again.
