Hockey Viewing Schedule For The Holidays

I don't know about you, but the holidays and hockey go together pretty damn well. There is plenty of international hockey on with the 2014 World Junior Hockey Championships headlining the holidays, but don't forget about the Spengler Cup and some marquee NHL games on the schedule as well. With most of the games airing throughout the days there will be more than enough time for a quick shinny game to be had before getting serious at night with family and friends. Enjoy the holidays and remember, don't drink and drive.

Friday December 20th, 2013

World Juniors

A pair of World Junior exhibition games will help you get to know some of the players in the tourney and scout for the 4th Annual Dirty Dangle World Junior Hockey Pool. Then at night there's a great rivalry game as the 1st place Blackhawks take on the surging Canucks.

While both the Maple Leafs and Red Wings are slumping right now, this is their tune-up game before the Winter Classic and their first game as division rivals in 15 years. It's a good day to recover from your Christmas hangover as Canada kicks off the World Juniors with a game against the recently promoted Germans and the USA takes on a relatively unknown Czech team. Expect both teams to come away with a lot of goals and set the tone for the tournament. Team Canada also kicks off their Spengler Cup quest with a game against the Czech Extraliga team, HC Vitkovice Steel.

Another day of World Juniors as the Slovaks take on the Germans and Finland opens up their tournament against the Norwegians. HC Davos sans Joe Thornton, Loui Eriksson, and Patrick Kane will take on a team to be determined after the first day of games.

Don't forget 24/7 Red Wings-Maple Leafs: Road to the NHL Winter Classic airs it's third episode and will include some action from the two team's tilt the previous Saturday night.

If you want to see some big name legends such as Yzerman, Fedorov, Larionov and Coffey take on Gilmour, Clark, Sundin, and Sittler then be sure to catch the Winter Classic Alumni Showdown in the early afternoon. Remember, don't drink and drive tonight, folks.

If that last game isn't your cup of tea then catch the final episode of 24/7 Red Wings-Maple Leafs: Road to the NHL Winter Classic at 10pm that will feature some great scenes of the Winter Classic.
