Dock Talk: New Division Names

We love hitting the cottage on weekends and most of the time just talk hockey up there. Dock Talk is a summary of a conversation this past weekend while up north drinking beers on the water. We'll do our best to remember what was said, but sometimes dock drinking gets messy.
Last week the NHL announced the 4 new division names and it seems Gary Bettman is a fan of geographical regions compared to actually naming divisions after the past builders of the league. The four new divisions are the Pacific, Central, Atlantic and the Glen Metropolitan Division. Goodbye are the Northeast, Northwest, and Southeast. Hello to the... Metropolitan Division?

Comparing Free Agent Signees To Strippers

The dust from the free agent frenzy has settled, but the money is still raining down on this years crop as many NHL GMs paid big money for players in a lackluster group. Many GMs treated the frenzy like it was their first time at a strip club and tossed around quite a bit of money ($350M in the first 6 hours) which they'll most likely regret later. Some GMs must have lost track of the number of songs and got escorted to the ATM by five bouncers as the cash was just rolling in for career 50-point players.

NHL 2013 Draftees As 10-Year-Olds

The Brick Tournament has produced more videos of (almost) NHLers playing in the famous novice tournament as they've recently put together some clips of the 2013 NHL Draftees at the tournament. From the videos you get to see some top draft picks such as Jonathan Drouin and Seth Jones, as well as other notables including Max Domi, Bo Horvat, Curtis Lazar, Ryan Pulock and Eric Comrie.

Tyler Seguin Trade Party

Flip that shit, Tyler
Tyler Seguin was traded in a shocking move earlier this week and the rumours of his partying are now making their way to print. How much truth their is to the 21-year-old needing a guard to keep him from leaving his room to party and showing up to the rink in Toronto wearing the same clothes for three straight days we don't know, but the kid definitely likes to party (his dad even says so). Thanks to the young Brampton native living in the US during the 4th of July, you can't be surprised that photos and video have surfaced of him partying in Cape Cod during the holiday. Unfortunately for Seguin, it was also the day he got traded so him partying amid rumours of being traded for too much partying are actually pretty hilarious.

2013 NHL Free Agent Frenzy Drinking Game

The free agent market officially opens today and while the crop isn't too strong this year it's still a tradition to grab some beers and be letdown. Notable big fish have already made their decisions, but the frenzy should still be fun with compliance buyouts and a decreased salary cap thrown into the mix. So study your list of available free agents, turn on TSN, overdose on Twitter and get ready to drink.

Stephen Weiss: Worth the Risk?

I always wonder about NHL players and what they think during contract time. Do you take the money that is offered from your current team or do you take a risk and see if you can get a lot more money on the market. With that said, there is always the uncertainly of how things can work out for you if you decide to leave the system and role you are comfortable with. This gets me thinking, how good is Stephen Weiss?

The Old Dirty Men of 2013 Free Agency

The Stanley Cup has been won and the top prospects picked so it's time to focus on the free agency frenzy. Once July 5th strikes, GMs will be looking to add to their rosters for a fresh start in 2013-14. Many GMs like to add some experience as that missing piece to get their teams into the playoffs and free agency is that time of year when aging vets get overpaid. Sure they can show flashes of greatness, but just like your parents, they nap a lot more these days.
