Team Sweden Sochi 2014 Roster Predictions

It's orientation week for many of the hockey nations going to Sochi in 2014 so
let's take a look at the potential rosters for the upcoming Olympic tournament.
2006 Gold Donut Winners
Through 4 Olympics in which there's been NHL participation, Team Sweden have done no worse than 5th. Unfortunately, they've finished in that 5th spot three of those four Olympics. They do have a 2006 gold medal to brag about however and should be a contender going into Sochi with a well-rounded team. Talented players in every position combined with some pesky players to work the corners could be the formula for the Detroit Red Wings to win gold in Sochi.

Team Finland Sochi 2014 Roster Predictions

It's orientation week for many of the hockey nations going to Sochi in 2014 so
let's take a look at the potential rosters for the upcoming Olympic tournament.
Since NHLers began participating at the Winter Olympics, Finland has been one of the most consistent nations on the podium. With 2 bronze (1998, 2010) and a 2006 silver, they'll be looking to add a gold medal to their trophy case that is almost guaranteed to be in a sauna. Always solid between the pipes, the Finns will be relying on goaltending to help them win as the rest of their lineup is looking pretty old. Despite a handful of veterans expected to return, the Finns should be able to give any team trouble with their gritty style and stellar goaltending.

Stories You Didn't Hear From Team Canada's Orientation Camp

Some of the biggest names in Canadian hockey got together this week for a 3-day Hockey Canada Olympic orientation camp and there was a lot of hype surrounding it as it's August and hockey is missed. Due to insurance costs there were no on-ice sessions this week and the camp was mostly comprised of information meetings and team bonding. With that said, there was a lot of fun had between the 46 Canadian NHLers in attendance and we've heard some stories from our sources in Calgary of the shenanigans that went on.

Team Russia Sochi 2014 Roster Predictions

It's orientation week for many of the hockey nations going to Sochi in 2014 so
let's take a look at the potential rosters for the upcoming Olympic tournament.
The host nation will not only have the pressure on them to win gold, but they'll have the pressure of rebounding from a disappointing 6th place finish in Vancouver. In 2010, the Russians brought 9 non-NHLers with them to the Olympics and and bowed out in the quarterfinals after a 7-3 loss to Canada. The KHLers they brought in 2010 were former NHLers and this time around you know they'll be bringing their absolute best. Always dangerous with so an abundance of raw talent, the Russians biggest boost could be in the crease with Sergei Bobrovsky emerging as one of the best goaltenders in the NHL this past season.

Team USA Sochi 2014 Roster Predictions

It's orientation week for many of the hockey nations going to Sochi in 2014 so
let's take a look at the potential rosters for the upcoming Olympic tournament.
Team USA looks to be a very strong team on paper, but they also have the potential to be a team that trashes their rooms after losing. The Yanks have a lot of forward depth and arguably some of the best goaltenders in the tournament so we really wouldn't be surprised if they medal. Just like Canada, the Americans have not done well at Olympics held outside of North America finishing 5th in Nagano and 8th in Turin. With that in mind, they'll have high expectations heading to Sochi so let's take a look at their potential roster in 2014.

Team Canada Sochi 2014 Roster Predictions

It's orientation week for many of the hockey nations going to Sochi in 2014 so
let's take a look at some potential rosters for the upcoming Olympic tournament.
Looking for a repeat gold medal and their first medal with NHLers on international ice, Team Canada will once again be bringing the best team on paper to the Olympic Games. Selecting Team Canada has to be one of the most fun/hardest jobs in the world as it's hard to go wrong with some players, but if your team doesn't win than you're pretty much banned from the country. The camp list looks stacked, and even the players not invited to camp would make a solid medal contender. With that said, let's pick our Team Canada squad to take to Russia.

2013 Free Agent Leftovers

We're a week into August and there are still some solid UFA leftovers out there waiting to be signed. While some leftovers hide in the back of your fridge for weeks, some leftovers can be put to good use with the right fixings. Some of the players currently unsigned would be great additions on most NHL teams and it's very surprising they haven't been scooped up yet or at least rumoured to be signing somewhere. Maybe they're just sweating it out like that casserole from last week, but with training camps starting in a month it's only a matter of time before the Domino's pizza begin to fall.

Who's Getting The "C"?

After a shortened season with many roster overhauls there were quite a few NHL teams missing their captains when the dust settled. There were captains traded at the deadline, captains bought out, and captains signing elsewhere. Some moves were shocking to see, like noted scumbag Daniel Alfredsson signing in Detroit, while moves like Shawn Horcoff and his $5.5M cap hit getting traded had fans cheering in the streets. In total, there are currently eight teams without captains and they should have some tough decisions to make regarding who will lead their team in the future.
